Christmas & Newyear's Programs

Bakkastofa culture house, located in Eyrarbakki,  offers a variety of traditional Icelandic Christmas and new-year's themed programs for groups.

 

The programs offer guests insight into Icelandic traditions and culture and is great for groups of travellers or coworkers.

Live music featuring Valgeir Guðjónsson, a celebrated singer/songwriter. He performs in English as well as his native Icelandic, sometimes  accompanied by other musicians

A Christmas Menu

 

Christmas themed cuisine in the renowned 'Rauða húsið' in Eyrarbakki. A wonderful place to spend midwinter days, the food is of course accompanied by culture, music and stories.

Christmas in Húsið

 

The oldest house and museum in Eyrarbakki, 'Húsið', opens its doors and grants visitors a view of old Icelandic Christmas. The Christmas tree exhibit has attracted a lot of attention as its trees are among the best preserved and oldest in Iceland.

Traditional Icelandic tales and folklore with audience participation with Ásta Kristrún og Valgeir Guðjónsson of Bakkastofa.

For the Children

Various family programs for groups with children are available on Sundays. Christmas stories, song and dance, all in the spirit of the traditional Icelandic Christmas are a December favorite. 

     Staður 

 

Staður is the community center of Eyrarbakki a frequent location of arrival for the guests of Bakkastofa as well as the venue of various programs. The scheduling of each program is customized for individual groups.
