The home and workplace of Ásta Kristrún and Valgeir, who are masters of receiving guests and leaving them with a lasting memory of a good and giving time had.

Valgeir is one of Iceland´s prime musicians, known for his relaxed and spontanous style when performing his works.

 

Ásta is a storyteller by natue and takes her guests on a trip to another day and  with her dramatic tales.

Saga Music is an highly entertaining and educating live music performance that explores Iceland's historical and literary past in a dynamic, contemporay form. 

Enter the world of vikings, heroes and villians, love and hate, murder and revenge and more in this unique program performed by Bakkastofa´s own Valgeir Guðjónsson.

Bakkastofa Stories - a peek into the family chest

A storytelling performance which explores the history of Eyrarbakki and how its more active inhabitants turned it from a stagnant society into a modern one.

 

Ásta Kristrún, opens a facinating box of dramatic stories as she has strong family roots in Eyrarbakki.

 

Duration: 40 - 60 minutes

Experience the picturesque and relaxed seaside atmosphere of Eyrarbakki Village, with its small old houses and pristine nature.

In wintertime Bakkastofa offers seasonal programs with a special emphasis on the old Icelandic Yuletide traditions.

Saga Music and Storytelling  is followed by a visit to the unique Heritage Museum "Húsið", the home of Ásta's ancestors, and nearby Eyrarbakki Church. 
An unforgettable visit is completed with a hearty meal at restaurant "Rauða húsið".

Bakkastofa's own Valgeir Guðjónsson is one of Iceland's most renowned musicians.

His career spans over four decades and includes many stories to go along with his varied music.


Valgeir performs in  English and Scandinavian, and yes - also in Icelandic.
